To become a leader you need to be involved. Your local school council or sports club committees are good ways to be involved in decision making. There are a number of community organisations or events that you may be involved with or wish to join that have governing committees. Here are some suggestions of where to begin.

The Youth Minister’s Round Table provides direct communication between young Territorians and the Northern Territory Government. The Round Table consists of 16 members who are aged 15 to 25 years. Round Table members are representative of the geographic, cultural and ethnic diversity in the Northern Territory.
Is an official advisory committee to Local Council and has a maximum of 15 young people appointed to the group each year. The group meets every month and as well as organising youth events and projects, provides youth advice to Council on issues affecting young people in Darwin.
Aims to create and develop in young people an interest in their system of Government and Parliamentary process, involve them in public speaking and debating, discussing issues of importance and documenting ideas. The Police Ethnic Advisory Group (PEAG) provides advice to the Commissioner of Police relating to Multicultural Issues. There is a Youth Advisory and Action Group (YAAG) that is part of the PEAG. Find out more from the NT Police Website.

The Advisory Council on Ageing provides an avenue of communication between the Northern Territory senior community and government. Council reports to the Minister for Senior Territorians with members appointed for 2 year terms. Information is available from the Office of Senior Territorians Website.
