International Women's Day is celebrated annually across the world on 8 March. The day provides an opportunity for communities to recognise the achievements of women, their contribution to our communities and the progress towards equality for women here in Australia and around the world.
In the Northern Territory, women and girls reflect many different cultures, backgrounds and life experiences. International Women’s Day gives us an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the rich diversity among Territory women and girls.
In every corner of the Territory there are individuals and organisations that work tirelessly to achieve better outcomes for women. International Women’s Day is a day to look back on past struggles and accomplishments and for looking to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women.
Please join the Northern Territory Government in celebrating this important day. Throw an event; attend a breakfast, an exhibit, a forum; have a conversation about the women that make the Territory a better place to live; or reach out to a woman who has had a positive impact on your life.
Each year the Office of Women’s Policy publishes a Calendar of Events across the Territory.
